I was just thinking about this year, and everything that's happened. Friendships now gone, people who have moved on in their life, people who are growing. Just stuff, I suppose is pretty appropriate considering it's New Years Eve. I was just thinking, the way something ends is more important than how it begins. A book can have an awful beginning, but if it finishes strongly, then the beginning doesn't matter. A friendship can begin on a bad note, and turn into a great, life long relationship. Where other relationships might begin strong, and then, without a word, with out a fight, just fade away.
The same can be said with conversations. It's the biggest pet peeve of mine, when talking to someone, if they don't say good bye. To me, that's not an ending. They didn't conclude the conversation. They just left it hanging there, in a void of words that weren't spoken.
I can't stop a book, I always have to finish it. I have to listen to a song all the way through. It's because the ending matters. It doesn't matter if it's a good or bad ending. It doesn't matter if everything turns out ok or not, but it has to end. It has to be finished.
I lost where I was going with this, but, even if you had a shit year, that doesn't mean you have to end it on a bad note. Just make the best ending you can. Happy New Years Eve everyone.
Have a great ending for the year, and an even better beginning for 2014!
